Aflao (VR), April 30, GNA – Mr. Elliot Edem Agbenorwu, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ketu South has said the Aflao Market would get a major facelift to make it a model market in the Volta region.
He said plans were underway for major developments in the market including; construction of modern market stores, phase II of the pavement of the market, and the construction of a health facility.
Mr. Agbenorwu said this at a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of phase one of a 10-lockable storey project at the Market.
He said the project to be funded by the District Performance Assessment Tool (DPAT) would give the market a new look and improve revenue generation of the municipal assembly to support more development.
He disclosed that the Assembly was undertaking the construction in two phases because part of the initial amount allocated for the project was diverted to take care of COVID-19 related issues but gave the assurance that the Assembly would stop at nothing to ensure the construction of structures at the market to make it a model one.
Mr. Eben Adega, the Contractor on the project said workers would be sourced locally to work on the construction and asked for communal support to help complete it on schedule.
Mr. David Tiahno Quarshie, the 2020 Parliamentary Candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party for Ketu South said the current administration was concerned with projects that matter to the people as the Aflao market had for a long time not seen any major development.
