Yendi Assembly constitutes Committee on COVID-19

Yendi (N/R), March 29, GNA – The Yendi Municipal Security Committee has constituted a 12-member Public Health Management Committee to sensitise members of the public on the COVID-19 to help prevent its spread.

The Committee, chaired by Alhaji Hammed Abukari Yussif, Yendi Municipal Chief Executive, comprises members from various public institutions, the traditional authority and civil society organisations.

Alhaji Yussif, who spoke during an emergency meeting of members of the Committee at Yendi, called on them to be dedicated at the assignment, to ensure that the President’s directives on standard hygienic protocols at all public places, especially markets and lorry stations to prevent the spread of the Covid 19 were adhered to.

He called on members of the Committee to sensitise residents on proper handwashing and observe the preventive measures announced by the President and health experts to help prevent the disease from spreading.

Dr Ayuba Abdulai, Medical Superintendent at the Yendi Municipal Hospital, expressed the need for people, who showed signs of coughing or repeated sneezing and vomiting to be quarantined for 14 days for the necessary medical tests.

The meeting decided that hand washing facilities should be stationed at entry points to Yendi township for passengers and those entering Yendi to wash their hands.
