Cape Coast, March 31, GNA – Ms Ekua Bannerman, winner of Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) 2019 has donated assorted sanitary items to markets and lorry stations in Cape Coast and Elmina for protection against contracting Coronavirus.

The beneficiaries are; Abura, Kotokuraba and Elmina markets and Lorry stations.

The items included; veronica buckets, gallons of liquid soap, boxes of tissue papers, running into thousands of Ghana Cedis.

Speaking to the media after the donation, she said the gesture was her little contribution during the difficult period of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the virus especially at public places.

“Our mothers at the markets are always giving us food-stuff and always handling money and support to these specific places are important because of the constant flow of people at the markets and lorry stations.

There is a very high risk, so I think this is a good choice”, she said.

Ms Bannerman told the market women and the drivers not to take the disease lightly as it was real and admonished them to practise social distancing, washing of hands and coughing into tissues protocols seriously.

The beauty queen used the opportunity to educate market women, drivers, and all present about the deadly COVID-19 disease and urged them to adhere to the safety protocols as directed by government and health experts.

She demonstrated to them how to properly wash hands with soap under running water and encouraged them to regularly and thoroughly do same or clean their hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitizers to reduce the spread of the virus.
