Agormanya (E/R), Nov. 27, GNA – Mr. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development (MLGDRD) has commissioned an ultra-modern 188 lockable stores and ancillary facilities at Agormanya market in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
The project, which was financed by the World Bank under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme, spans five years, having commenced in 2019 and scheduled to end this year.
Addressing the gathering at Agormanya, the minister indicated that the newly constructed market stores would facilitate trading activities and serve as a safe keeping place for the produce of traders after their day’s activities.
He urged the beneficiaries to maintain and manage the structures well because they were built to last for a lifetime.
Referencing projects completed in the municipality, he stated that leadership had shown a commitment to ensuring that the government’s dreams came to fruition.
“Your needs are of concern to the government and to ensure that the mandate is renewed, the government will need your support in the days ahead,” he implored.
Mr. Simon Kweku Tetteh, Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Chief Executive, assured traders in the Municipality that the allocation of the lockable stores would be transparent devoid of any party affiliation.
Mr. Tetteh, also the Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Lower Manya Krobo constituency, said the stores would be allocated on time.
