Mapatasie, (Bono), Nov. 26, GNA – Some residents at Mpatasie, a farming community in the Berekum Municipality of the Bono Region have appealed to the government to asphalt the Mpatasie-Berekum road.
They said they were unhappy that the dusty nature of the road was affecting their health and economic activities.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Mpatasie, a resident Erica Agyei, commended the government for reshaping the stretch, however, added that the dust emanating from the road was too much for them to bear.
She said the health of school children and women in the area was in danger because of the dust, worrying that some food vendors sold their stuff in the open for school children to buy.
Another resident Mary Agyei Frimpomaa, also told the GNA “we were crying over the potholes developed on the stretch, but the assembly came to our aid and reshaped it, but now dust has taken over the community”.
She said drivers and motorists using the stretch over-sped to escape the dust, a situation which was contributing to high pedestrian knockdowns, especially among school children in the area.
Ms Frimpomaa appealed to the Municipal Assembly to consider watering the road and to control the dust for them.
