Twenty-six arrested for brandishing toy guns in public

Accra, Nov.26, GNA – The Ghana Police Service has apprehended 26 individuals for publicly brandishing and firing toy guns recklessly.

The suspects are currently assisting the police with their investigation and will soon be brought before the court for legal proceedings.

A statement from the Police Public Affairs Directorate, shared with the Ghana News Agency, confirmed that a number of toy guns had been seized from the suspects as part of the ongoing investigation into the matter.

“Police special operations are currently underway to arrest others involved in this act which is becoming a trend in some parts of the country.”

The statement urged the youth to refrain from such actions, as they constitute an offence under Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), which deals with offensive conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.

The police also reassured the public of their commitment to maintaining peace and order in the country, emphasizing that they would take all necessary steps to ensure national security.
