Accra, Nov. 26, GNA – Mr. John Selasi Awutey, the Upper West Akim District Director for the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has reiterated the call on the citizenry to shun violence ahead of December polls.
He charged young people to think about their future and not allow politicians to use them to foment troubles.
“You are future leaders. Let your dreams inspire you to look forward to a better future and adhere to electoral laws for a smooth electoral process,” the Director said in a release.
Mr Awutey said this when the Commission in collaboration with the District Inter Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) undertook inter-faith activity to promote peace ahead of the polls.
The engagement was also to equip faith-based organisations with knowledge on electoral regulations and the need for political and religious tolerance.
He said peace was a prerequisite for rapid socio-economic development and urged the populace to be peaceful and tolerant before, during and after the General Election.
The Rev. Justice Baiden, the Vice Chairman of the District IPDC, said the country needed violence-free elections and charged all stakeholders to work and commit to peace throughout the electioneering period.
