Accra, Nov. 25, GNA – The University of Cape Coast (UCC) old students, led by the biological and physical science alumni, has organised a free health screening and donated GHC5,000 to Center for Hope Charity aid.
As part of the alumni’s humanitarian effort, it donated fifteen bags of 25kg rice, 2 cartons of vegetable oil, 2 cartons of sardines, tissues, milk and milo.
The free health screening included checking of blood pressure, glucose, and breast cancer among others.
The event held at the premises of Center for hope charity aid, in Accra, was in partnership with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).
About 40 aged women and 20 aged men actively participated in the health screening exercise.
Speaking during the event, Mrs Charlotte Hebidzi, President of Biological and Physical science Alumni, said the initiative was to impact lives, especially the vulnerable in society. “This is to put smiles on the faces of people”, she added.
She urged all associations and corporate organisation to extend their humanitarian service to the charity aid to extend help to the needy in the community.
She said, this year, the Association had supported five students with their needs, portraying their commitment to help the poor and needy.
Madam Mauricia, Assistance Administrator, Forma Migratoria Multiple (FMM), expressed her deepest gratitude to the association for the support towards the needy in the community.
She said the donation would be used for its intended purposes and thanked the association for the health screening, saying it was timely as diseases and health care expenses rise.
She advised needy and deprived people to pray for donors to enlarge their coasts so that they could give back to the society
