Santaso (W/R), Nov 25, GNA – Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Member of Parliament for Ellembele Constituency, has commissioned an ultra- modern Community-Based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compound at Santaso, a farming community in the northern part of the Ellembelle District.
The health facility has come to alleviate the plight of the people who had to travel long distances to access medical care.
Mr. Buah, former Minister for Energy, commissioning the facility, reiterated his avowed commitment to provide healthcare needs through affordable health care delivery to the people of Ellembelle.
He said building healthcare infrastructure had been one of his topmost priorities since 2009.
The MP touted his achievements in the health sector with the provision of numerous CHPS compounds, clinics and health centres dotted across the length and breadth of the district since he became the MP.
Mr. Buah said an inaccessible road network, coupled with the absence of healthcare centres before he became the MP led to lots of maternal deaths in the hard-to- get to- areas.
He hinted of upgrading the Santaso CHPS compound to a clinic in future.
The MP assured the people that road construction work which stalled after the NDC went into opposition, would resume.
Dr. Ausgustine Kwesi Amoako, the Ellembelle District Director of the Ghana Health Service, commended Mr. Buah for his role in healthcare delivery in the area.

He said Ghana was making frantic efforts to achieve primary health care through the concept of CHPS, Network of Practice and Community-Based Health Planning Services.
Dr Kwesi Amoako lauded Mr. Buah’s passion for healthcare delivery, adding that “it is not every District which has an MP of his calibre.”
As part of the commissioning, the Community Health Committee Members of Santaso CHPS Compound and Community Health Volunteers were inaugurated.
Madam Dorcas Amoah, Midwife at Santaso CHPS Compound, said the compound would help address cholera outbreak in the Region, which had claimed two lives with one suspected case at St. Martin De Porres Hospital at Eikwe.
Madam Asmah asked the people to wash their hands regularly, eat hot food and ensure cleanliness.
Nana Etwe Kpanyinli, Chief of Aiyinasi, whose speech was ready by Safohene Nana Kanra Kwaw, lauded efforts of the MP in healthcare delivery.
