Sunyani, (Bono), Nov. 25, GNA – Mr Samuel Osei Frempong, the News Editor of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) has urged reporters and stringers of the Agency not to wear any clothing or attire that has political party colours or symbols, as they cover the Election 2024.

He urged the writers of the country’s major news outlet, to avoid the temptation of boarding vehicles, branded in political party colours too.

“Our only currency is credibility, and we can’t compromise on that,” Mr Frempong stated when he facilitated an election coverage training workshop organised by the GNA for the reporters and stringers of the Agency in Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regions in Sunyani.

The day’s training was aimed at equipping the journalists and the stringers, selected from the various constituencies in the regions with the required skills and attitudes needed to report, extensively, timely and accurately on the Election 2024.

Mr Frempong said the GNA cherished professionalism and urged them to adhere to high ethical standards in covering the General Election, advising them to maintain their objectivity as journalists to build on and safeguard the Agency’s reputation of credibility.

He also entreated them to prepare themselves adequately for the Election Day, position themselves well and to provide extensive coverage on the elections, urging them not to find troubles for themselves.

“You endeavour to arrive at the polling stations on time and early before voting starts so to familiarize yourselves and gather essential information for your reports,” Mr Frempong advised.

Earlier in a welcoming address, Mr Dennis Peprah, the Bono Regional Manager of the Agency advised the reporters and stringers of the Agency to prioritise safety and valued their lives as they reported on the General Election.

The training exposed the participants to some “dos and don’ts” of election coverage, some activities to be conducted on the Election Day, and the house style of the GNA.
