By Daniel Agbesi Latsu

Kpassa (O/R), Nov 25, GNA-Parliamentary of some political parties have shared their visions with the electorate of Nkwanta North in the Oti Region during the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) Parliamentary Dialogue.

The candidates are Benjamin Nador, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate (PC), Oduro Aikens Kofi Yeboah, Movement for Change PC and Gabriel Donkor, Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).

However, Mr. Bless John Oti, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) PC and the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkwanta North did not show up for the programme.

The engagement seeks to create platforms for the PCs to share their visions, interact with the constituents, increase commitment from them to issues-based campaigning and raise awareness about tolerance and peace before, during and after the elections.

A Moderator asked the PCs questions on education, employment, health, roads and the economy based on research dubbed “Matters of Concern to the Ghanaian Voter” carried out by the NCCE.

Speaking at the programme, Mr. Robert Kwesi Boame, the Oti Regional Director of the NCCE, said in an election year, the NCCE conducts Research dubbed “Matters of Concern to the Ghanaian Voter” to enhance issues-based political campaigns and voter education and that the findings are used as the basis for the Commissions’ Parliamentary Candidates’ Dialogue in all the constituencies in the country.

He said the dialogue served as a platform for the PCs and that it was not meant to get a winner or loser.

The Regional Director advised the electorate to help sustain the peace in the country by abstaining from violent acts before, during and after the December 7 polls.

Mr. Fuseini Nurudeen, the Nkwanta North NCCE District Director, asked the electorate to continue to glamour for peace instead of war.

He said Ghana has been ranked the second most peaceful country in Sub-Saharan Africa, so there was the need to protect that hard won reputation as an oasis of peace.

Mr. Nador, the NPP PC, sharing his vision, pledged to improve the road network in the constituency and that work has started through the District Roads Improvement Project (DRIP).

Mr. Kofi Yeboah, the Movement for Change PC, promised to provide an incentive package for teachers serving in the deprived communities when voted as MP for the area.

Mr. Donkor, the LPG PC, also pledged to provide agricultural inputs like fertilizer and weedicide to the farmers, especially young farmers, to attract more youth into farming.
