By Emmanuel Nyatsikor

Ho, Nov. 25 GNA – Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Andrews Boadu-Ekumah, Chairman of the Volta Regional Election Taskforce Sunday said it is the responsibility of all Ghanaians to ensure that peace prevails in the country before, during and after the forthcoming general elections.

“Let us all see it as a national call and a moral responsibility to give peace, nothing but peace a chance to permeate every fibre of the Ghanaian society at this crucial time,” he advised.

DCOP Boadu-Ekumah stated these, when the Task Force visited the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Kekeli Congregation at the SSNIT Flats in Ho, where the SSNIT Flats Pastoral District of the Church was celebrating its district anniversary.

The visit by the Taskforce formed part of its tour of churches in the Ho Municipality to sensitise citizens on their roles and responsibilities in maintaining peace in the country.

DCOP Boadu-Ekumah, who is also the Volta Regional Police Commander, noted that nobody could give Ghanaians peace except themselves.

“What we need from you as Christians is to continue preaching the importance of peace and also exhibit this Christlike value,” he advised.

The Chairman called on security officials who would be detailed to the various election centres not to misconduct themselves but exhibit professionalism.

He also called on the Electoral Commission officials not to be partisan but to work in a very fair and transparent manner to present a true reflection of the election results.

The Chairman appealed to the youth not to allow themselves to be used by selfish politicians for their parochial interests adding that the law enforcement agencies would not allow anybody to derail the Electoral process on the election day.

“Let us demonstrate to the world that we are capable of jealously protecting the peace we are enjoying and coming out stronger as one nation, one people with a common destiny,” he urged

DCOP Boadu-Ekumah was hopeful that the country would be more united after the elections adding “Ghana will be the winner at the end of it all.”

He called on the electorate, party agents, EC officials and security details at the various polling stations to give the sick and people with disability priority on the election day.
