Jimbale (NE/R), Nov 25, GNA – The Yunyoo-Nasuan District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged youth activists of political parties in the area to promote peaceful elections.
The day’s event, held at Jimbale as part of the Preventing and Containing Violent Extremism project, funded by the European Union, was aimed at improving the knowledge and attitude of participants on the culture of peaceful coexistence, tolerance and non-violence.
Topics discussed included the role of youth in promoting peace, peaceful coexistence, inter-faith tolerance, identifying and countering misinformation and disinformation.
Participants included youth activists of the various political parties amongst some members of the public.
Mr. Daniel Havor, Head of Pentecost Church at Jimbale, who was a resource person, in his presentation during the event, encouraged youth activists of political parties to tolerate one another despite their political differences.
Mr. Yidana Alhassan, Yunyoo-Nasuan District Officer, National Investigations Bureau, urged political party youth activists and communicators to verify their statements before publishing them so as not to malign their opponents.
Mr. Wilberforce Zangina, North East Regional Director of NCCE emphasised the need for members of political parties to embrace peace to promote development.
