NCCE engages political party youth activists at Savelugu on peaceful elections

Savelugu (N/R), Nov 23, GNA – The Savelugu Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged youth activists of political parties in the area to promote peaceful elections. 

The day’s event, held at Savelugu as part of the Preventing and Containing Violent Extremism project, funded by the European Union, was aimed at improving the knowledge and attitude of participants on the culture of peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and non-violence. 

Topics discussed included the role of the youth in promoting peace, peaceful coexistence, and inter-faith tolerance, identifying and countering misinformation and disinformation. 

Participants included NPP youth groups, NDC youth groups, CPP youth groups, DPP youth group, and the PNC youth group as well as Inter-party Party Dialogue Committee members, and some community-based organisations. 

Chief Inspector Daniel Andoh, from the Savelugu District Police Command, who was a resource person during the event, urged the youth to desist from violence and focus on promoting peace and tolerance amongst themselves. 

Afa Hussein Abukari, who was a resource person, urged all the participants to be change agents and embrace peace and tolerance. 

He said political and religious differences should not be a source of violence and urged the youth groups to tolerate one another’s views to ensure harmony in the area.
