Sunyani, Nov. 21, GNA – The Ghana Society for Education and Technology (GSET), a professional body, is partnering with Team Kairos, a South Korean Curriculum Experts to advance the teaching and learning of mathematics through Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The partnership, according to Mr Miracule Daniel Gavor, the Founder and Executive Director of GSET, would implement the “Ghana-Friendly Mathematics Program (GFMaP),” an AI-powered educational tool that assists in the teaching of mathematics.

He said the implementation of the project was targeted to train approximately 2,000 mathematics teachers in 700 schools using the AI-powered GFMaP tools, saying the GFMaP had been specifically designed to seamlessly integrate with existing educational resources, enabling teachers to provide a top-tier learning experience.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Mr Gavor said the MFMaP project implementation would highlight the potential of AI in the nation’s education sector.

The AI-powered platform would serve as a valuable teaching support tool for mathematics teachers, enhancing the quality of education in the country.

Mr Gavor said the project was launched October, this year, and it would sign a Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with the relevant government agencies around March 2025 for the implementation of the project which would be piloted in some selected schools.

“The project will be a transformative moment for mathematics education in the country because teachers will find it easier to teach students,” he stated.

JiEun Janet Song, the Founder of Team Kairos, in another interview explained the project implementation would make a positive impact and advance the teaching and learning of mathematics in Ghana.

“Our primary focus is providing a tool that alleviates the challenges facing teachers in the classroom, and aids students in their learning process,” she stated, saying benefits of using -those AI-powered tools include enhancing lesson preparation efficiency, empowering teachers on complex concepts thereby strengthening teaching skills and improving student comprehension.

Mina Song, the Director in-charge of Teacher Training and Project Planning, Team Kairos, also told the GNA the project was equipped with AI-based explanations and real-time question and answer platforms.
