Fire outbreak claims the life of 17-year-old boy at Atonsu Bokuro

Kumasi Nov. 19, GNA- A fatal fire outbreak in a house at Atonsu Bokuro, in the Asokwa Municipality, has claimed the life of a 17-year-old by.

The victim was identified only as Jerry.

The deceased was asleep in one of the rooms at the time of the incident.

The blazing fire, which was said to have started at about 8:30 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2024, also caused extensive damage to personal properties in the nine-bedroom house.

According to an eyewitness, the emergence of smoke in one of the rooms swiftly transitioned into a fierce blaze, catching everyone off guard.

Despite the prompt alert to the Ghana National Fire Service in the area, the situation had already escalated beyond control upon their arrival.

However, officers from the Ghana National Fire Service, were able to successfully contain the situation.

Mr. Bernard Nyemi-Tei, Asokwa Municipal Fire Commander, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that, lack of access road to the building hampered the efforts of the rescue team.

He said investigations were ongoing to identify the cause of the fire.

The remains of the deceased had been conveyed to morgue for examination.
