Dormaa-Ahenkro, (B/R), Nov. 19, GNA – Mr Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Decentralisation, has inaugurated a standard bus terminal constructed at the cost of GH¢5,222,229.15 at Dormaa-Ahenkro in the Bono Region.
The facility, built under the implementation of the World Bank funded Ghana Secondary City Support Project (GSCSP), has a police post, ambulance services, fire station, standard male and female washrooms, offices and lockable stores, as well as streetlights, waiting room and a mechanised borehole.
Speaking at a ceremony held at Dormaa-Ahenkro, Mr Korsah said the government was optimistic that the facility would spur rapid socio-economic growth and development of the Municipality, and the region by extension.
He said the implementation of the second phase of the GSCSP would commence in the municipality very soon, saying the facility and several others built across the nation underpinned the government commitment to improve infrastructure development.
Mr Korsah therefore urged the electorates to vote and retain the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government in political power to enable the “Bawumia government to continue and complete some of the projects.”
In a welcoming address, Mr Drissa Quattara, the Dormaa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), explained that construction works on other projects including the upgrade of the Dormaa-Ahenkro Tuesday market into a standard market complex under the GSCSP were progressing steadily and at various stages of completion in the municipality.
He said plans were also far advanced for the installation of modern traffic lights and construction of pavements and pedestrian walkways in the Dormaa-Ahenkro Township.
The Sector Minister later inaugurated a standard market at Berekun in the Berekum East Municipality under the GSCSP implementation.
It has a police post, 10-seater toilet facilities, lorry park, toll booth, ticketing room, health post, and fire post.
