Accra, Nov. 18, GNA – Mr Ignasius Baffour Awuah has commissioned a newly built state-of-the-art office complex for the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.
The four-story facility is fitted with a boardroom office, a directors office, a negotiation office, and an ICT office, among others, constructed by First Beacon ArchitecturL Limited.
The Minister said the Commission had to relocate to the new building because the owners of the building needed their facility.
The facility, he said, was the handiwork of President Akufo-Addo who had a vision to provide the Commission with a befitting office environment to enhance service delivery.
He stated that it was the desire of the government to let every worker have a conducive working environment to give off their best and improve productivity.
“I am confident that the new edifice will give you the self-satisfaction you need to work in an efficient and effective manner,” he said.
He commended the management of the commission for their supervision in ensuring the successful completion of the building.
“You can have the best of office buildings, but if the service is poor, it means nothing. I want to entreat staff to justify why the state invested in the facility,” he said.
The Minister said the government presented 16 pickup vehicles to the Labour Department to enhance their operations and also commissioned 16 Public Employment Centres.
He stressed that a new office building for the Ministry had been completed and was located opposite the Accra Sports Stadium.
Mr Baffour charged the management of the commission to develop a good maintenance culture for the facility and advised them to allocate funds to maintain the edifice.
Mr Benjamin Arthur, the Chief Executive, FWSC, commended the Minister for his leadership in facilitating the completion of the project.
“We are fortunate to have this facility. We know other agencies under the Ministry have not been fortunate to get this facility, and we will protect and use it for the benefit of all,” he said.
He pledged to ensure that the edifice was maintained to gain the confidence of authority and the public in general.
Reverend Richmond Okrah, contractor of First Beacon Architectural Limited, said the building cost GHC 9 million and took almost two years to complete the office building.
