Kumasi Nov. 18, GNA – The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has lauded the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Simon Osei Mensah, for the exceptional projects implemented during his tenure.
Otumfuo expressed admiration following a comprehensive two-hour presentation the Minister delivered to the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, during their end of year general meeting in Kumasi.
“Your appointment has been marked by a harmonious coexistence with us, a fact we hold in high regard.
Today, he has come before us to present an account of his stewardship.
Despite his term drawing to a close, we implore him to persist in his commendable efforts until the very end.
Upon the conclusion of his tenure, we, as traditional leaders, will devise a means to acknowledge his contributions to the region,” Otumfuo Osei Tutu remarked after the presentation.
Mr Simon Osei Mensah was initially appointed as the Ashanti Regional Minister in 2017 by President Akufo-Addo during his first presidential term.
In 2021, he was reappointed by President Akufo-Addo to serve a second term as the Minister for the region, becoming the first regional minister in recent memory to serve two terms consecutively.
As his tenure is coming to an end, the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs extended an invitation to him to outline the extent of infrastructure development achieved during his nearly eight-year leadership.
Among the projects the Regional Minister proudly highlighted were the initiation of 1,178 educational projects of which over 900 have been completed, the construction of 74 security services facilities, 28 courthouses with 21 already in operation, and other projects, scattered across the region.
