Krachi-Kete (O/R), Nov. 18, GNA – The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Krachi West Municipality of the Oti Region, has organised an intensive parliamentary candidates’ Dialogue, to enlighten citizens on their vision for the Municipality.
Mr Kenneth Karikari, the Krachi West Municipal Director of the NCCE said, the programme sought to tackle matters of concern to the Ghanaian Voter.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Karikari explained that all the parliamentary candidates in the constituency were brought together, to share their vision, missions and intentions to the citizens on some key issues.
He said issues related to Education, Agriculture, Health, Economy, Road and infrastructure, were among the key areas the dialogue looked at, and to know how the parliamentary candidate’s intended to tackle them when given the nod.
The dialogue, which engaged all the three parliamentary candidates in the Krachi West constituency, only saw, Mr Justice Amankwa Mensah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidates and Mr Charles Bisi Gyagbuja of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), but the incumbent, Madam Helen Adwoa Ntoso of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was absent.
The public were also given the chance to ask questions on matters of concern.
During the dialogue, Mr Karikari urged the Parliamentary Candidates to encourage their followers to abide by the rules and regulations of the game, especially in terms of peacebuilding, before, during and after the elections.
The Commission, however, advocated for a peaceful voting practice, encouraging electorates to exercise their votes calmly and get back home to avoid any clashes at the polling centres.
The participants, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency GNA, applauded the Commission for the dialogue and promised not to involve in any violent acts that will mar the conduct of the election in the Municipality.
Meanwhile, the various political parties have commended the NCCE for the Dialogue and also expressed their readiness to cooperate with the Electoral commission (EC) for a peaceful election in December.
