Zuarungu (UE), Nov. 18, GNA – Mr Atiah Edwin Ayinsongya , a Parliamentary Candidate for the Progressive Alliance for Ghana (PAG) Party in Bolgatanga East Constituency has pledged to ensure that no woman carries water on her head when voted to represent the constituents.

He said the value of water to every woman was so key and stressed to make water available all year round that would promote backyard gardens for every home and help women to own fishponds and small-scale farming to enhance their incomes level and boost the economy.

Mr Ayinsongya made this pledge when he spoke in an interview with the Ghana News Agency after a Parliamentary Candidates Dialogue organized by the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) at Zuarungu.

The Parliamentary Candidate who is a teacher by profession and native of the area said the Progressive Alliance for Ghana Party had a vision and was on a current mission of decolonizing the minds of Ghanaians and their way of thinking and doing things in the country so as to build a new Ghana and a new Africa for all .

Speaking on Ghana’ s educational system in Ghana, he said a total restructure of the educational system in Ghana needed a change since it was mostly based on theory and not practical and made graduates more redundant after completion of their education.

“Anytime we want to build roads it is the Chinese we bring, anytime we want to build bridges we bring same foreigners, what has happened to our engineering programs taught in our schools, colleges. We teach children who come out and cannot find employment, children complete school they have no skills, and you are an engineer and yet when your car breaks down you cannot fix it.” He lamented.

He said PAG believed in its core value to support citizens plans, goals and desires delivered on time without inconvenience and with undue costs to citizens by a professional public service.

At the Dialogue session he reiterated and vowed to help improve the reading culture of students and pupils by supporting schools with books.

On health he said government’s implementation of the NHIS was a flaw and unable to pay into the fund for the provision of services for people who patronize healthcare and pledged a fund that would support health centers, infrastructure, and equipment.

He also showed concern about rampant pollution of water bodies through chemicals and heath challenges in the country and indicated that the policy of ‘eat what we grow ‘ which will be delivered through backyard garden would improve health and well-being of people of Bolgatanga East District and country since every household will supply its own food needs and have enough to sell out.

Mr Ayinsongya said the party believed in a vision of ‘Sankofa’ which means ‘ to go back for ‘ or retrieve’ and noted that the future of the country lies in the history of the country and therefore important for Ghanaians to know the vision of Dr Kwame Nkrumah of blessed memory who once said “ “Africans must unite now or perish.

Dr John Kpikpi is the author and Presidential Aspirant of PAG but withdrew from the Presidential race due to challenges in meeting the Electoral Commission (EC) requirements for participation and it is focused on supporting its Parliamentary Candidates for the 2024 general elections.
