Bolgatanga, Nov. 17, GNA – Prophet Kenneth Afflu, the Founder and General Overseer of Pearls Prayer Ministry in Bolgatanga, said God alone has the power to determine the next president of Ghana and called on Christians to pray for His will to prevail in the upcoming general election.
He expressed worry over the tendency of some prophets to publicly predict winners of elections and said such predictions could fuel division in Christendom and in the country generally and thus called for tact and restraint.
“Let’s all pray that the will of God will be done in the nation,” Prophet Afflu told his congregation in a sermon on Sunday.
He said Ghana was a peaceful country and the peace must be maintained to enhance its democratic credentials and engender development.
A nation that sought the face of God and committed to His works enjoyed progress in all endeavours, he said.
“A nation whose leaders always pray to God and rely on God moves forward. The Bible says that it is only righteousness that exults a nation.”
He said prayer was a spiritual exercise and called on Ghanaians to pray against violence in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
“So, as we pray, any power that will raise up against the election in the realms of the spirit, the power of God will arrest those spirits and the peace and will of God will be enforced on the earth physically,” Prophet Afflu said.
He appealed to the Christian Council of Ghana to choose a day for a nationwide fasting and prayers to seek the mercies of God in the elections.
“As all the traditionalists, Muslims and christians pray, God will answer our prayers,” he said.
