More street vendors empowered under FanMilk’s ‘Right to Dream’ initiative

Accra, Nov. 15, GNA – About 15 Street Vendors have been supported by the FanMilk PLC, a subsidiary of Danone and Ghana’s leading dairy and beverage company, to become independent entrepreneurs across the country.

In Accra, the company unveiled and handed over seven out of 15 equipped shops to beneficiaries under its ‘Right to Dream’ initiative.

Launched earlier this year, the initiative aims to create sustainable employment within FanMilk’s supply chain.

A statement issued in Accra and signed by Mr Kenneth Aidam, Communications Manager, FanMilk West Africa, said ‘Right to Dream’ ensured that street vendors had a clear growth path when they join the business, demonstrating FanMilk’s commitment to the development of its people and communities.

Additionally, this campaign serves Danone’s purpose of ‘bringing health through food to as many as possible.

Mr Lionel Parent, Managing Director of FanMilk Ghana, said, “Our street vendors, also known as ‘Chief Enjoyment Officers,’ are the reason FanMilk is still in business. We are happy to be on this growth journey together and shape the future of our community.”

He said the seven shops unveiled today marked the beginning of a total of 15 shops earmarked to be handed over before the end of 2024.

“By offering investment in the form of full setup costs, products, equipment, and selling assets, we empower these agents to become independent entrepreneurs who will, in turn, create jobs for other vendors,” he added.

He said together with the latter, FanMilk was also providing upskills in the form of ongoing coaching and business advisory support to the new agents.

This ensures they manage their earnings effectively, allowing them to run their businesses sustainably and support their families, creating a supportive ecosystem.

Mr Ayodeji Adewale, Sales Director for FanMilk, emphasized that the ‘Right to Dream’ initiative, a key part of FanMilk’s ‘Project Sankofa,’ was here to stay.

He said the initiative was crucial for reigniting excitement around FanMilk products built over the past 64 years and supports Danone’s sustainability agenda for Thriving People and Communities.

“To our new agents, remember that we are partners in growth. You are the reason FanMilk continues to be a strong brand and a thriving business, and we are committed to supporting you every step of the way,” he said.

Mr Issaka Ibrahim, a beneficiary, expressed his utmost appreciation to FanMilk for the opportunity.

He assured FanMilk’s management of his commitment to thriving in his new role as an official agent and supporting other new street vendors in their businesses.
