Mankranso (Ash) Nov 13 GNA – Voters in the upcoming general elections have been urged to abide by the rules of the elections and conduct themselves well to ensure peace at their polling centres.
They should desist from taking party paraphernalia or any unauthorized item to the polling centres during the election’s day.
Mr. Bernard Osei Boateng, Ahafo-Ano South West District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), who made the call, said it was important for every voter, especially the first-time voters, to understand the rules in order not to do anything that could create tension at the polling stations.
He was speaking at a durbar organized by the NCCE to sensitize, the electorates, especially the first-time voters, on how to conduct themselves at the polling station.
The event was also used to create a platform for the parliamentary candidates in the constituency to interact and explain their programmes and policies to the electorate.
Mr Boateng warned against the transportation of unauthorized materials to the polling centres and said what an electorate needed at the centre was only his or her voter identity card.
They should also desist from taking alcohol or drugs before going to the polling centres to vote, adding that any misconduct or unlawful act would be dealt with by the security agencies.
Mr Elvis Osei Dapaah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate, said many youths from the area had been engaged in the Kunsu community mining project, about 5,000 people were also being sponsored to be trained in various vocational trades.
Farm inputs have also been supplied to farmers, while the policy of the free SHS had helped increase enrolment at the Mankranso Senior High School.
The school, which had an average of 600 students over the years, currently has over 3,000 students.
Mr Dapaah, also mentioned the construction of the ‘Agenda 111’ health facility in the area, construction of offices for persons with disabilities, the rehabilitation of the Beposo-Mpasaso road, among others, as some of the projects going on in the district.
He, therefore, appealed to the people to retain the NPP in power to ensure the successful
completion of the various ongoing projects to improve the living conditions of the people.
Mr Sadik Abubakar, the National Democratic Congress Parliamentary candidate and the sole contender of Mr Osei Dapaah, was, however, absent from the event.
