Achiase chiefs back NDC to win power

Achiase (Ash), Nov.13, GNA -The chiefs and people of Achiase in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region are anticipating massive victory for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) at this year’s general elections.

They believe that a win for the NDC would ensure a fixing of the deplorable roads in the area.

“A victory for NDC is the answer to the perennial problem which continues to affect the socio-economic development of the people,” Nana Kwame Apraku, the Gyaasehene of the community, said.

The Gyaasehene (Head of the Council of Kingmakers), who expressed the sentiment, said the poor road network in the area remained the foremost challenge confronting communities in that enclave.

“We are of the firm believe that an NDC government will fix our roads and bring us some relief,” he told the National Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, when he visited the community, as part of his campaign tour in the Ashanti Region.

Nana Apraku said the NDC had proven to be a development-oriented party over the years and tasked the National Chairman not to turn his back on the community when the party wins power

“We are certain that you are on your way to power after December 7 and all need from you is to pay attention to our roads,” the Chief implored

Nana Apraku applauded the NDC for providing the community with a Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound during its last regime, adding that it had become the cornerstone of healthcare in the area, serving about three communities.

He also appealed for the restocking of a computer laboratory in the community school which he said didn’t have a single functioning computer currently.

Mr. Nketiah said a vote for the NDC is a vote for development.

He wondered why the Ashanti Region continued to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) despite doing very little to improve their lives.

He said elections are meant to improve the living conditions of the people so if a party persistently fail to deliver on that mandate, it is only logic to send them packing. He entreated

the people to vote for a party with a proven track record for infrastructural development in all sectors of the economy to ensure accelerated development of the country.

The NDC, according to him, had been faithful to the Ashanti Region anytime it was in government, and urged the people to bring it back to complete the numerous projects abandoned by the NPP for the past eight years.
