Beirut, 11 Nov, (dpa/GNA) – At least eight people were killed and 14 others wounded, when an Israeli strike hit an apartment in the area of Akkar in northern Lebanon on Monday, the Lebanese Health Ministry said.
The airstrike hit an apartment in the village of Ain Yaqoub in Akkar, where some people displaced from the fighting in southern Lebanon were staying, according to Lebanese security sources.
They added that the target, might have been a member of the pro-Iranian Shiite Hezbollah militia.
It was the first time the area was hit since the outbreak of the war between Hezbollah and the Israeli military.
Ain Yaqoub is populated by Christians and Sunni Muslims.
Since the fighting broke out over a year ago, over 3,200 people have been killed and over 14,000 others injured in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, in Saksakiyeh in southern Lebanon, at least seven people were killed and seven others were wounded, when an Israeli airstrike hit the area, security sources and the Health ministry said.
