Nchiraa, (B/R), Nov. 12, GNA – Mr Kojo Frempong, the Wenchi Constituency Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Election 2024, has inaugurated a six-unit classroom block for Nchiraa Senior High School (SHS) in the Bono Region.
The Ghana National Petroleum Commission (GNPC) Foundation funded the construction of the facility to improve teaching and learning.
Speaking at a short ceremony held at Nchiraa in the constituency, Mr Frempong advised the school authorities to maintain the building and urged the students to learn hard also to justify the investment.
He said quality education remained a major priority of the NPP government, promising his commitment to help improve the academic environment and also provide the school with other learning and teaching materials too.
Mr Peter Daanu Blankson, the Headmaster of the School, thanked the foundation and the parliamentary candidate, saying the facility would greatly enhance student enrolment.
He said the school had 350 students and appealed for a boy’s dormitory, and standard dining hall.
Nana Tabiri Yaw III, Chief of Nchiraa, also expressed appreciation to the parliamentary candidate for his enormous contributions to the development of the area.
Mr Dominic Eduah, the Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation, said the foundation had constructed similar projects across the country, and provided educational scholarships to several students.
He said the classroom block was among the 143 educational facilities the foundation had built spread across the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions.
Miss Tabitha Pinkrah, the School’s Girls Prefect, described the facility as timely intervention and thanked the foundation, appealing for more support to improve educational infrastructure at the school.
The Parliamentary Candidate later inaugurated 10 mechanised boreholes he constructed in the local communities in the constituency.
