NCCE, IPDC engages inter-faith organisations on peaceful election

Kpetoe (V/R), Nov. 12, GNA- Agotime-Ziope District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) has engaged inter-faith organisations on peaceful election.

Mr Christian Ahiawodzi, Agotime-Ziope District Director of the NCCE, said the engagement was necessary because concerted effort was required to maintain the current prevailing peace.

He said development thrived only in a peaceful atmosphere, thus the need for all citizens to come together to protect the peace and security of the country.

Mr Ahiawodzi told Ghana News Agency the Commission was doing its best to get the citizens appreciate the current peace and to avoid acts that would destroy it.

The Director charged members of the Inter-party dialogue committee not to relent in their efforts in engaging political parties on the need to avoid monetizing their electoral campaign.

He said too much money in politics or vote-buying undermined one of the basic tenets of democracy; probity and accountability.

Detective Inspector Mallam Nagbija, Chairman of the IPDC, asked faith-based organizations to be worried about the dangers of misinformation and disinformation regarding the peaceful atmosphere.

He charged the members to authenticate or verify any information before spearheading it.
