Agona Swedru (C/R), Nov 7, GNA-The Agona West New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate (PC), Mr Chris Jojo Arhin Arthur has presented 14 motor bikes to Okada Riders’ Association as part of efforts to stimulate their work to economically empower them.
The presentation, the first phase of a project to assist motor riders, was made to five Associations, numbering about 300, for them to own motor bikes to reduce the pressure of daily sales made to motorbike owners.
Speaking to the media after the presentation at Swedru, Mr Arthur said motorbike riders had shown their preparedness to support his candidature to become MP for the area and so he decided to support them.
The PC said it was also for the riders to be economically Independent to enable them to become self-sufficient in life.
He said he had secured vehicle and motorbikes driving licenses from the Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA) for all members of the Association to avert police arrest and prosecution.
The PC said it was possible for every leader to strive hard to support the people to better their lives and revealed plans to supply motorbikes and help members to procure vehicles on ‘work and pay’ basis.
He called on the teeming youth to strongly rally behind the candidature of Dr Bawumia as President and Mr Arthur as an MP to give them new hope and confidence with jobs to make life better.
He further appealed to the riders to work with caution to avert accidents that could destroy lives and property, adding that as family men, they should not do anything that would affect their relatives and society.
Mr Gabriel Anokye, Chairman of Okada Riders Associations expressed gratitude to Mr Arthur and assured that they would take good care of the motorbikes.
He said the members had realised that Mr Arthur was championing a good course for them and so they would also support him and Dr Bawumia to win massively in the December 7 polls.
Meanwhile, the Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) Foundation in collaboration with Chris Care Foundation, had presented start-up tools to 55 electricians, masons, carpenters, and dressmakers to set up their shops.
The beneficiaries thanked the two foundations for their support and pledged to rally support Mr Arthur in the December polls.
