Obuasi East: Businessman supports eight needy Junior High School graduates

Obuasi (Ash), Nov. 07, GNA – A businessman and philanthropist has given financial support to eight brilliant but needy Junior High School graduates in Obuasi East District as they transition to Senior High School (SHS).

Mr. Eugene Kofi Amankwaa, who is known for supporting educational activities in the district, presented an amount of GHC 10,000 to the District Education Directorate to ease the financial burden on the beneficiaries.

This comes on the heels of a donation of $15,000 to a 20-year-old needy student in August to enable her study Mining Engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada.

Mr. Amankwaa, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Eugenmat Travel and Tour, at a brief ceremony to present the money, said the gesture was to enable the beneficiaries acquire basic needs as they prepare for senior high school.

“I was once a student some time ago and I understand how it feels to lack basic needs to go through school due to financial constraints.

“I believe this is a way of giving back to the society what God has blessed me with and put smiles on the faces of the less privileged,” he noted.

He pledged his continuous support to such students and assured them that he would extend the support to outstanding SHS graduates for their tertiary education.

“Investing in education is investing in our future and we are proud to empower talented youth for a brighter tomorrow,” he stated.

Mr. Kwabena Owusu Nketia, the District Director of Education, said the support would significantly impact the lives of the beneficiaries as they pursued their dreams.

He applauded Mr. Amankwaa for his continuous support to education in the district and called on other well-to-do in society to emulate his gesture.

Master Ebenezer Osei Mensah, a beneficiary on behalf of the others expressed his heartfelt gratitude to their benefactor for his generous gesture, saying that the

support had not only eased their financial burden, but also inspired them to work harder.
