Ho, Nov. 5, GNA – Some women achievers from different professional backgrounds have empowered students of OLA, Philip Akpo, Methodist and Anglican schools in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region.
The women shared their experiences with the participants at a programme organised by the Volta Regional Directorate of the Department of Children.
Mr Israel Akrobortu, Volta Regional Director, Department of Children told Ghana News Agency the programme aimed to prepare the participants to become responsible citizens.
He said it was necessary to nurture the young ones for future roles as they were the future leaders of the country and the programme formed part of this year’s celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child.
Mrs Thywill Eyra Kpe, Volta Regional Director of the Department of Gender urged the participants be determined and looked beyond their current circumstances.
She asked them to stay focused in life, concentrate on their studies so they would acquire the requisite knowledge that would position them well for future roles.
The Director charged them to be resilient, aim higher and be committed to developing their abilities and goals so they could achieve success in life.
Some of the girls who spoke to Ghana News Agency expressed appreciation for having the opportunity to be nurtured.
They promised to put to use the knowledge they have acquired.
