Accra, Nov. 5, GNA-Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI, Paramount Chief of Assin Kushea and President of the Assin Owirenkyi Traditional Council, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the upcoming Strategic ESG and Sustainability Impact Summit 2024 (SESI 24), set for November 13-14 at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.

His Majesty’s participation at SESI 24 marks a significant endorsement for the event, which is expected to convene influential leaders from government, business, and academia to advance sustainability initiatives in Ghana and beyond.

In a recent stakeholder engagement session, His Majesty shared his commitment to the summit’s mission, drawing attention to Ghana’s developmental path and the necessity for responsible, long-term planning.

“With ideas like SESI 24, there is still hope,” he said, expressing optimism about the future of sustainable practices in Ghana.

He underscored that Ghana could benefit from the example of countries like China, which have strategically invested in sustainable, future-ready cities, while Ghana struggles with disjointed projects and resource depletion.

Reflecting on the environmental history of Assin Kushea, Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI lamented the loss of natural resources, including wildlife, due to unintentional overexploitation.

“I came here when I was 40, and there was a forest teeming with animals. But we have consumed all the animals, not realising we needed them,” he stated, highlighting the need for greater ecological mindfulness.

His Majesty stressed the importance of collaborative efforts among traditional leaders, government agencies, and the private sector in advancing sustainable development, as well as the role individuals play in fostering a sustainable future.

He urged citizens to balance their pursuit of sustainability with a commitment to peace, stating, “Even in our pursuits for a sustainable Ghana, let us also not forget to preach peace to our family, friends, and everyone around us.”

The summit, hosted by SESI, stands as Ghana’s premier platform for promoting sustainable growth. By uniting stakeholders from multiple sectors, SESI 24 aims to drive innovative solutions, policy advancements, and partnerships that encourage businesses to pursue net-zero emissions and champion the next era of sustainability.

The two-day event promises a diverse range of discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities, with sessions led by thought leaders in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, as well as experts in sustainable business and public policy.
