Accra, Nov.4 GNA – The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has elected Mr Philip Appiah Kubi, also known as Roman Fada, a prominent broadcast journalist, as its new presidential candidate following the passing of Madam Akua Donkor.

Mr. Appiah Kubi confirmed his candidacy in a media interview on November 4, 2024, explaining that the decision came after extensive discussions among the party’s leadership.

He noted that his nomination was a natural progression, as he had been running as the Vice-Presidential candidate alongside Madam Donkor for the upcoming December elections.

Mr. Appiah Kubi explained that the party selected him for the nomination because he had already been running alongside Akua Donkor as her Vice-Presidential candidate in the upcoming December elections.

“It is true, and we all know what happened a week ago today around 10 pm when Akua Donkor passed, God rest her soul.

“As you know, I was the running mate for the party’s 2024 presidential candidate ahead of the elections.

“She is no longer with us, so the party’s leadership deemed it right for me to replace Akua Donkor in the elections. So, if you heard. I am the new flagbearer for Ghana Freedom Party,” he said.

However, his running mate has yet to be officially announced by the party.

Madam Akua Donkor, the founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party, died on October 28, 2024, at Ridge Hospital due to respiratory-related issues.

Following her death, the Electoral Commission (EC) issued a 10-day deadline for the GFP to name a replacement candidate
