Dambai (O/R) Nov 1, GNA- Nana Kwabena Nteh, the Oti regional STEM coordinator, has appealed to Junior High School (JHS) students to take a keen interest in study of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) based courses to build a successful future career.
He made this call during the commemoration of International Day of Girl Child held at Presbyterian Church at Dambai, in the Krachi East Municipality.
“With the current state of development across the globe, there is the need for all to think about ways of being part of the global economy by training the critical minds that can compete in the global market”, he added.
Nana Nteh explained that girls shied away from STEM and expressed the need to demystify the perception that STEM was difficult, adding that, it was important to have a change of mind about the programme.
Mr, Al-Hassan Zulkiphil Osumanu, Chief Inspector of Schools (CIS), advocated for adolescent girls to pursue STEM education to unlock their career opportunities and contribute to Ghana’s future development.
He urged the students to embrace STEM education and dwell on its possibilities to unlock their chances and shape their destinies.
The Chief Inspector of schools said a prestigious organization was offering a full scholarship to a female student from Krachi East Municipality, who excelled in STEM subjects and could not get a single person.
