Accra, Nov. 1, GNA – The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has announced that this year’s National Farmers Day will take place on November 8, 2024, in Accra.
The date has been moved from the traditional December 1 due to the upcoming general election, according to a statement shared with the Ghana News Agency.
This year’s event will mark the 40th edition and will be on the theme “Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security.”
The celebration will emphasize Ghana’s commitment to adopting agricultural practices that effectively tackle the challenges of climate change.
In the lead-up to the celebration, the government and its partners will host a 5-day National Agricultural Fair, Agrifest Ghana 2024, from November 4 to 8, 2024.
The event will showcase Ghana’s rich agricultural heritage and provide a platform for knowledge exchange and innovation, uniting farmers and stakeholders from across the country.
According to the statement, the National Farmers’ Day celebration will culminate in a National Awards Night Ceremony on November 8, where President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will honor outstanding farmers across 16 award categories.
These include the Overall National Best Farmer, National Best Livestock Farmer, National Best Female Farmer, and National Best Physically Challenged Farmer.
The National Farmers’ Day celebration will promote dialogue and innovation, encouraging farmers and stakeholders to adapt to environmental changes and adopt best practices in agriculture.
