Accra, Oct. 30, GNA – The International Scouts and Guides Fellowship (ISGF) Ghana Chapter will embark on a seven-day walk from Kumasi-Accra to promote peace ahead of the December elections.
The walk, set for November 21–28, 2024, would begin from the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi and end at the Palace of the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II.
The walk themed “A Call to Unity: Fly the Flag for Peace” would witness hundreds of scouts waving the Ghana flag as a symbol of unity and spreading the message of peace.
Speaking at the launch in Accra, Mr Andrew Botchwey, President of the ISGF Ghana Chapter, stated that the walk aims to inspire unity and peace among Ghanaians as the December election approached.
“With this event, we invite all Ghanaians to stand together, understanding that the future of our nation depends on the strength of our togetherness.
“As Scouts and Guides, we uphold values of respect, harmony, and service. With the Peace Gathering 2024, we call on every Ghanaian to put aside differences, celebrate our shared identity, and promote peace when it matters most,” he said.
Mr Botchwey also encouraged all Ghanaians to join the peace walk as a gesture of their commitment to upholding the country’s peace while strengthening community bonds.
“As we look to the future, let us remember that our shared values are stronger than any differences. Together, we can build a brighter, more peaceful future for our children and future generations.
“In the words of our national anthem, ‘God bless our homeland Ghana, and make our nation great strong,’ united, we will achieve greatness,” said Mr Botchwey.
The peace walk would also be used to raise funds for the construction of an ultra-modern training centre for scouts and guides at Efumkrom in Nsawam.
