Upper West Union in Bolgatanga gets new executives

Bolgatanga, Oct. 30, GNA – The Upper East Regional chapter of re-inaugurated Upper West Union (UWU) in Bolgatanga, has elected a 14-member executive board to steer its affairs for the next two years. 

The executives, who were elected by two representatives each from six tribal groups within the Upper West Region based in Bolgatanga, included Mr Aatare Adamu Mahmud as Chairman, Mr Saeed Ibrahim Bampurimbu, Vice Chairman, Mr Paul Piela, Secretary and Mr Fasasi Mudashiru, Vice Secretary. 

The rest are Mr Frederick Mwinsoayele, Organizer, Mr Emmanuel Bewone, Vice Organizer, Mr Mohammed Sumaila Mahadugu, Treasurer, Mr Bright Bayorle, Vice Treasurer and Mr Alhassan Zimi, Welfare Officer.  

The remaining are Madam Comfort Changu, Vice Welfare Officer, Madam Alice Gbiel, Women’s Organizer, Madam Felicia Tater, Vice Women’s Organizer, Mr Fauster Doomie, Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Professor Callistus Tengan, Vice PRO.  

Speaking at an inaugural ceremony which brought together the sons and daughters of the Upper West Region, Alhaji Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, the Upper East Regional Minister, said both executives and members had the responsibility to empower the UWU as a catalyst for positive change in their lives and that of future generations. 

“The success or otherwise of this Union will depend on our collective commitments,” the Minister, who himself is a native of the Upper West Region, and the immediate past Minister of same, said. 

In his acceptance address, the Chairman, on behalf of the executives, thanked members of the UWU and its patrons for the confidence reposed in them to steer the affairs of the organization, and called for the collective efforts of all members for the success of the Union. 

“The success of the executives does not depend on us, the executives but the members of the Upper West Union,” Mr Mahmud noted. 

He said the Union’s strength was in its ability to support one another, and to stand together as a family, regardless of where they found themselves, “Let us commit to working together to build strong bonds and to bring a source of support for each other,” the Chairman said. 

Commenting on the Chuchuliga-Chiana-Tumu stretch of road, through to the Upper West Regional capital, Wa, Mr Mahmud expressed appreciation to the government for its commitment to improve the road infrastructure. 

He noted that the efforts by government to fix and upgrade the road would not only enhance connectivity, but also bring significant relief to commuters who relied on the road to transact business between the two Regions. 

He expressed the hope that government’s efforts would continue until the road network was fully completed, “We remain hopeful that the efforts will continue until the road network is fully completed to bring lasting benefits to our communities and foster economic growth in the Upper West and Upper East Regions.”
