Sekondi NMTC poised to advance critical care

Effia, Oct. 28, GNA – Alhaji Abdul-Karim Kwame Boakye-Yiadom, the Principal of the Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Sekondi has announced four new Bachelor of Science programmes to address the broader health care challenges of the times.

The programmes are critical care nursing, Peri Operative Nursing, Midwifery with Neonatology and general nursing.

Speaking at a ceremony to climax the 70th anniversary celebrations of the school said, “our journey has been one of growth, adaptation and unwavering commitment to excellence in nursing and midwifery education”.

The school, he Indicated, also recognised the pressing need for specialisation in alignment with the SDGs adding, “there is the increasing demand for highly skilled professionals who can deliver specialized care, and our institution aims to produce graduates with these critical expertise”

The school, he noted continued to chalk higher successes in both internal and external examinations demonstrating the hard work of faculty and students

The college aspired to be the benchmarking institution in terms of training across the Africa Region.

Alhaji Boakye-Yiadom acknowledged the invaluable contributions of alumni to the well-being of the College and tasked then to take centre stage in the continuous growth and development of the College through mentorship and guidance: act as promoters and advocates of the school.

The NMTC, founded in 1954 on what was once a military base where doctors, nurses and paramedics resided during the second World War, had evolved into a beacon of excellence in nursing and midwifery education.
