Guzakusa to honour over 20 outstanding African women in agribusiness

Accra, Oct. 22, GNA - Guzakuza, an organisation dedicated to empowering women in agribusiness throughout Africa, is set to award 23 women trailblazers in agribusiness on the continent for their outstanding leadership. 

The awards ceremony which is the ‘2024 African Women in Agribusiness Awards,’ is the third edition which seeks to put the spotlight on women who have developed innovative ways of growing their business. 

In a Statement, Guzakusa said: “The awards ceremony is to acknowledge the women trailblazers who have risen above limitations and led the way in promoting food security and job creation. These women in carrying out their businesses have been innovative, shown enviable leadership and blazed the African agribusiness rail”.

The event comes off on November 2, 2024, at the Tomreik Hotel, East Legon, Accra, Ghana, and it promises to draw agribusiness women from various African countries, particularly those in the rural areas on the theme: “Connecting Women; Connecting African Food Systems”.

It said there would be 23 categories of awards of which some are: SHE Innovate Award, Perseverance Award, Emerging Star in Agribusiness Award, Role Model Excellence Award, Green Business of the Year, Business Diversification Award and Export Business of the Year. 

Others would be Rising Agribusiness Award, Inclusivity Champion Award, Young Agripreneur of the Year, Agri-Marketplace of the Year, Agri-Finance of the Year, Agritech of the Year, Agri-Media of the Year, Agri- Journalist of the Year and Best Agriculture/Agribusiness Student Award.

The rest are Best Advocacy Award, Best Farmer Award, Best Packaging Company of the Year, Environmental Champion of the Year, Agroecological Excellence Award, Best Agroecologist of the Year and African Agribusiness Woman of the Year.

The awards ceremony would give an opportunity to participants to see the finalists’ journeys come to life through an exclusive one-minute video presentation and to know the changemakers who are driving progress in agriculture.

The ceremony is parked with activities including walking the red carpet and rubbing shoulders with industry icons, celebrating the outstanding individuals blazing the African Agribusiness trail, having exclusive dinner and fine wine as you make meaningful connections, the statement said.

Others would be speeches on powerful success stories from visionary women making a global impact and entertainment shows including a live performance by the sensational “Kilimanjaro” hit singer, La Reine Yosé. 

A fun tour would precede the awards ceremony and on October 27, participants would have a good treat at the Wli Falls, Monkey Sanctuary, and Photo Stop at Adomi Bridge.

There would also be Women in Agribusiness Conference (In-Person) on October 28 at Skyplus Hotel, Ho, followed by Women in Agribusiness Forum (In – Person) October – Ho Market

On October 30, there would be an industry tour and an Agribusiness Stakeholder Roundtable on October 31 which would be a virtual event.
