Russian ballistic missile attack injures 17 in Ukrainian city

Kiev, Oct 20, (dpa/GNA) – At least 17 people have been injured in a Russian missile attack, on the southern Ukrainian industrial city of Kryvyi Rih, with eight of them admitted to hospital, the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Vilkul, said on Sunday.

Russian forces had attacked the city, which lies some 350 kilometres south-east of Kiev, with two ballistic missiles. More than two dozen buildings were damaged, including a residential block, Vilkul said.

Both sides launched a large number of drones across their mutual border.

The Russian Defence Ministry, reported intercepting 110 Ukrainian drones across several regions, including one near Moscow. Four people were injured near Nizhny Novgorod to the east of Moscow. According to media reports, the intended target was an explosives factory in the area.

Ukrainian authorities reported than more than 50 Russian drones were deployed. Of these, 31 were intercepted, some over areas in western Ukraine.

A dozen Russian drones were shot down on the outskirts of, and over the Ukrainian capital Kiev.
