Agbeshie appointed ambassador for 2024 Anlo Hogbetso Festival

Denu (V/R), Oct 19, GNA – Award-winning artist, Agbeshie, born Frank Senanu Lawstand, has been appointed as ambassador for the 2024 Hogbetsotsoza, the traditional festival and single most important event on the Anlo calendar. 

He was appointed by Togbi Agbesi Awusu II, the Awadada of Anlo and the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee of the festival also known as Hogbeza, at an event in Accra. 

Organisers of the festival told Ghana News Agency that Agbeshie is among a number of ambassadors numbering about 25 including the United Nation’s Ben Dotsei Malor, Ing Dr Ken Ashigbey, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, and Citi FM/ Channel 1 TV’s Bernard Avle for this year’s celebration. 

These ambassadors would be expected to whip up support, publicity, and engagement for the festival and as well, help showcase the rich heritage of Anlo to a wider audience. 

In a post on Instagram, Agbeshie expressed his gratitude and stated that he was honoured and truly humbled by his appointment. 

“This recognition means the world to me, not only as an artist but as someone deeply connected to the rich heritage of the Anlo people. I am excited to use my platform to promote this prestigious festival, share our culture with the world, and work together to make this year’s celebration one for the history books!” 

“Let’s unite to strengthen the bonds and embrace our shared heritage. Mark your calendars for Saturday, 2nd November 2024 as we celebrate in grand style at Anloga, Volta Region. Let’s make this festival a lasting impact for our community,” he called. 

Agbeshie, won the Artiste of the Year at the maiden edition of Volta Music Awards in 2018 for his role in promoting the region through his music.  

Hogbeza, which commemorates the legendary exodus of the Ewe-Dogbo folks from Notsie in present-day Togo, is celebrated every first Saturday in November at Anloga and attracts chiefs and people across Eweland, other parts of the country and from the Diaspora. 

The 2024 edition, which organisation is being led for the first time, by the Anlo Youth Council, the umbrella body of the youth of Anlo is under the theme “Strengthening Bonds and Embracing Our Shared Heritage”.
