Apowa (WR), Oct. 16, GNA- The Ahantaman Rural Bank Limited has furnished the Blood Bank of the Jubilee Catholic Children Hospital in Apowa in the Ahanta West Municipality to ensure easy access to that essential health commodity.

The Bank provided a refrigerator, two bleeding beds, two weighing scales, a bedside locker, and a 1.5 horsepower air conditioner at the cost of GHS 32, 000.

Mr Benjamin Afful-Eshun, the CEO of the bank expressed appreciation to the bank’s board of directors for approving the impactful social responsibility act.

He said, “This hospital, has now become the preferred destination for medical care as a bank and we deemed it appropriate to add up to the existing facilities to ensure total health care delivery.”

Mr Afful-Eshun mentioned the earlier support to the Hospital’s NICU in the form of a phototherapy machine.

Dr. Marian Afful-Eshun, the Medical Director of the Hospital noted how storage of blood had become a great challenge over the past five years since the hospital began operations.

The blood bank has come as a great relief to patients particularly pregnant women who might need surgeries and blood care in emergencies.

She said the period when families of patients had to travel to Takoradi and other places in search of the commodity had been cured through the benevolence of the Bank.

Mr. Nathaniel A. Mensah, Head of the laboratory, said the hospital could now undertake effective blood mobilization from outreach and voluntary donors to save lives.

The Diocesan Health Services Director of the Catholic Church Reverend Father Friday Arthur-Aidoo expressed their gratitude to the bank for the regular support to the facility.
