Afife (V/R), Oct. 16, GNA – The Lordina Foundation, led by former First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, has donated medical equipment and supplies to the Afife Health Centre, located in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region.
The donation, worth millions of cedis, is intended to enhance healthcare delivery at the facility for patients.
Mrs Mahama emphasised the importance of the donated equipment, expressing her confidence that it would improve the health Centre’s capacity to deliver proper medical care.
“I am glad to have been able to support the Afife Health Centre, and I am confident that this equipment will go a long way to improve healthcare for the people here,” Mrs Mahama stated.
Beyond the donation, she also urged the people of Afife, to remain united in their pursuit of development and encouraged the community to support the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming elections.
She encouraged the people to rally behind Mr Edem Agbana, the NDC parliamentary candidate for the Ketu North Constituency, promising that if the party won, further infrastructure projects, including the construction of the health center’s access road, would be pursued.
The donation was received by Mr Sampson Kojo Mortty, a Physician Assistant at the Afife Health Centre, who expressed profound appreciation to Mrs Mahama and the Lordina Foundation, noting that the contribution would benefit both the health center staff and the patients they serve.
“We are extremely grateful for this generous gesture, which will undoubtedly improve our ability to provide quality healthcare to our patients,” Mr Mortty said.
Mr Edem Agbana also spoke on behalf of the chiefs and people of Afife, extending his gratitude to Mrs Mahama.
He recounted how, after numerous appeals to NGOs and individuals for assistance, he approached Mrs Mahama about the health center’s needs and she responded promptly, requesting a video showing the state of the facility and quickly arranged the supplies needed.
Mr Agbana, said “The people of Afife will forever be grateful to Mrs. Lordina Mahama, the Lordina Foundation, and the NDC for their support. This donation will have a lasting impact on our community”.
The equipment donated to the health center included five hospital beds, one incubator, two wheelchairs, a toilet commode, two baby cots, two baby carts, three boxes of latex gloves, 20
pairs of surgical shoes, 20 medical surgical gowns, two boxes of additional surgical gowns, two cabinets, a sphygmomanometer with stethoscope, and 20 bags of sanitary pads.
The event was attended by the chiefs and queen mothers of Afife and nearby communities, and regional and constituency executives of the NDC.
Their presence underscored the significance of the donation, which represents a major step forward in improving healthcare infrastructure in the region.
This donation from the Lordina Foundation is part of the organisation’s broader mission to support under-resourced health facilities across the country, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
