Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/R), Oct. 14, GNA – Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, the Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, has performed groundbreaking ceremony for work to begin on the construction of a standard Accident and Emergency Unit (A&E) at the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital in Dormaa Ahenkro in the Bono Region.
He also pledged GHC100,000 to support the project, as part of the launch of the 25th Anniversary of his enstoolment and the celebration of the 2024 Kwafie Festival of the chiefs and people of the area.
The celebration is scheduled for December 9 to December 22, 2024.
Osagyefo Oseadeyo Badu II said the construction of the A&E unit followed a visit he undertook to the hospital previously and noticed that a patient was being given a blood transfusion, while sitting, instead of being on a hospital bed.
He described the scene as “extremely disturbing, disappointing, and unbefitting” for the hospital and promised to assist in addressing the problem.
Osagyefo Oseadeyo Badu II advised the hospital management to always take proactive measures in tackling or responding to certain challenges, instead of over-relying on the government funded projects.
The Reverend Isaac Appiah, the General Manager of the Hospital, bemoaned the poor state of the ward, saying the facility was lacking sufficient space and modern medical devices and equipment, thereby impeding quality healthcare service delivery.
He thanked the Paramount Chief for his continuous support and appealed for more assistance to enhance healthcare provision in the area.
