International Scientific Organizations take part in celebrations on 155th anniversary of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences

Sofia. Oct 12 (BTA/GNA) – Representatives of international academies and partner organizations took part in a celebration ceremony of the 155th anniversary of the establishment of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), which was marked in Sofia on Saturday.

Attending were scientists from 15 global scientific organizations and the European Academies’ Science Advisory Council (EASAC). They took part in a meeting with the BAS leadership held at BAS and delivered greetings on the occasion.

BAS President Julian Revalski said that international cooperation is among the priorities for BAS. Addressing the guests at the ceremony, he presented the history and activities of the Academy in various scientific fields.

Currently, BAS carries out 40% of Bulgaria’s scientific output, Revalski explained, also noting the importance of joint international research projects.

BAS has long-standing relations with foreign scientific and educational organizations and implements an active policy aimed at international scientific partnership.

The celebrations on the 155th anniversary of BAS also include a concert at the Sofia Opera and Ballet House.
