By Simon Asare

Accra, Oct.11, GNA – Ghana’s Black Stars were hoping to take all three points against their Sudanese opponents, but the points were shared at the end of the encounter.

Despite the Black Stars’ strong performance, they were unable to convert the chances created, with Sudan goalkeeper Mohammed Mustafa making some outstanding saves.

Ghana is now third in Group F of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers with two points, with the reverse encounter against Sudan set on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Below is the player rating for Black Stars players:

Alidu Seidu (9/10)

He played flawlessly, making crucial interceptions on the right wing and halting the Sudanese counterattacks.

He was on fire in attack for the Black Stars, creating one great chance in the second half that Mohammed Kudus failed to convert.

It’s no surprise that supporters yelled his name after the match; he clearly deserved the Man-of-the-Match accolade.

Alexander Djiku (8/10)

He was rock solid in the defence against Sudan, having made some decisive blocks that kept the opponents at bay.

He had one big chance in the first half, which he headed onto the crossbar, and another in the second half, which he couldn’t convert.

Elisha Owusu (7/10)

He was outstanding in the game, having made numerous inceptions and retaining the ball very well.

He was the main link between defence and attack, and his recovery was highly laudable.

Mohammed Kudus (7/10)

Named as captain for the match, Mohammed Kudus was the main attacking engine of the team but was unlucky not to score.

His attacking excursions were irresistible, but he would undoubtedly rue the massive opportunity he squandered in the closing minutes of the second half.

Antoine Semenyo (6/10).

The striker was quite lively up front for the Black Stars, but he was indecisive in the penalty box, which cost the team a lot of points.

He had two good chances in the second half but failed to finish from close range.

Gideon Mensah (6/10)

He had a solid performance, especially in defence, where he curtailed most of the attacking incursions by the opponents.

He also made some crosses, but without luck in finding the attackers despite the quality.

Lawrence Ati-Zigi (6/10)

For the first time in a very long while, Ghana’s shot stopper kept a clean sheet and also made some very good saves in the game.

Jordan Ayew (5/10)

The Leicester City attacker had no major influence on the game and often slowed the pace in the final third.

Salisu Mohammed (4/10)

The Monaco defender had an average game.

Fatawu Issahaku (4/10)

He replaced Nuamah with a quarter of the game left and spurned a glorious opportunity to give Ghana the lead as he blasted wide from close range.

Inaki Williams (4/10)

He replaced Jordan Ayew in the second half and had two glorious opportunities to give Ghana the lead but wasted them.
