Accra, Oct. 09, GNA – The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives’ Association(GRNMA) has withdrawn from the planned strike by Organised Labour on 10th October against Galamsey.
In a media statement copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and signed by Perpetual Ofori- Ampofo, President and Dr. David Tenkorang-Twum, General Secretary, GRNMA, respectively, said the decision to withdraw from the strike was taken during an emergency meeting held on 8th October 2024.
The Association directed nurses and midwives to “stay at post and continue to deliver safe and quality services to the people of Ghana.
The Association said it supported the Trade Union Congress under the Organised Labour advocacy against illegal mining(galamsey).
Organised labour says it will strike nationwide on October 10 to compel the government to stop illegal mining which has led to the destruction of prized forest reserves and water bodies.
