Accra, Oct. 7, GNA – The city of Accra will from November 13 to 14 host the Strategic Environmental, Sustainability and Governance (ESG) and Sustainability Impact Summit (SESI 24) to chart a path towards net-zero economy.

This high-profile event will bring together business leaders, policymakers, industry experts, and sustainability advocates.

Organised in partnership with the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Ghana, SESI 24 aims to address the critical need for businesses to align their strategies with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.

Professor Douglas Boateng, a renowned expert in sustainable development and supply chain governance, will chair the summit.

Professor Boateng, known for his pioneering work in advancing ESG practices in Africa and globally, spoke to the media and emphasised the importance of businesses taking immediate action on sustainability.

“The future of African businesses and economies hinges on how we respond to the sustainability challenge. This summit is about unlocking solutions that make environmental stewardship a central component of business success,” he said.

Themed “Towards a Net Zero Future for Businesses,” he said the summit would foster collaboration, drive innovation, inform policy, and inspire action among key stakeholders across various sectors.

“The focus will be on the critical role businesses can play in combating the global climate crisis through ESG alignment,” he added.

He stressed that SESI 24 would feature a robust programme, including keynote addresses, panel discussions, and workshops covering key areas such as decarbonization, sustainable finance, circular economy, and social impact governance.

He disclosed that attendees would explore cutting-edge solutions, emerging technologies, and regulatory frameworks supporting Ghana’s transition to a net-zero economy.

He added that the summit, aligned with Ghana’s commitments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) would introduce key initiatives such as the Sustainability Forest Project, which aimed to plant 10,000 trees over the next two years.

“Each participant at SESI 24 will have the opportunity to contribute to this goal by planting a tree, offsetting their carbon footprint and reinforcing Ghana’s climate resilience,” Professor Boateng said.

Professor Boateng also indicated that a unique highlight of SESI 24 would be the Green Manifesto Matrix, where presidential candidates from various political parties would present their plans for achieving net-zero emissions in Ghana.

“This platform will encourage political leaders to align their visions with the country’s sustainability goals, creating an environment where business, government, and civil society can work together towards a common purpose.

SESI 24 promises to be a vital platform for advancing sustainability action in Ghana, helping businesses transition to a more sustainable future. The summit’s organizers invite leaders from all sectors to participate in shaping a sustainable future for Ghana and beyond,” he assured.

Mr Isaac Adu-Gyamfi, Event Director of SESI Summit has been tasked with the responsibility of providing additional information about the summit.
