“Letters to Goddo” bags eight nominations at the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards

Accra, Oct.4, GNA – Adventurous movie “Letters to Goddo” has eight nominations at the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), underscoring the film’s widespread acclaim across multiple categories. 

This deeply moving piece, which explores themes of faith, resilience, and personal transformation, is not only in the running for the top honors of Best Film and Best Director, but also stands out in several other key categories. 

The film’s director, Harry Bentil, has received a nomination for Best Director, placing him among esteemed company such as Daniel Emeke Oriahi (The Weekend), Kenneth Gyang (This is Lagos), and Jahmil X.T Qubeka (The Queenstown Kings). 

Bentil’s work in “Letters to Goddo” has been praised for its visual storytelling and emotive power, which has now been acknowledged with a spot in the prestigious Best Debut Feature Film by a Director category as well. 

Among the individual performances in the film, Solomon Fixon Owoo and Nenesenor Abloso have earned nods in the acting categories. 

Owoo is up for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, while Abloso has been nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role—recognitions that highlight the depth and nuance of their portrayals. 

“Letters to Goddo”’s technical and creative brilliance has not gone unnoticed either. The film has been recognized for Achievement in Make-Up and Achievement in Cinematography, both of which contributed significantly to the film’s visual and aesthetic impact. 

Additionally, its sharp, poignant dialogue and narrative structure earned a nomination for Achievement in Screenplay, solidifying the film’s standing as a well-rounded cinematic masterpiece. 

With nominations spanning acting, directing, cinematography, and more, “Letters to Goddo” has positioned itself as a strong contender for multiple awards at the 2024 AMAAs.
