Kumasi Sept. 02, GNA – Apostle Dr J.P.K Appiah, President, and Founder of the Followers of Christ International Church (FOCIC), the first African indigenous Church (One Man Church), in Italy, is reported dead.
Apostle Dr Appiah, 78, died in Modena, Italy on August 25, after a short illness.
Mr Kwame Appiah Boateng, younger brother of the late Apostle, who announced this, told the Ghana News Agency that, the body of the deceased would be interred at Modena on September 28, this year.
The late Apostle was also one of the first batch of young Ghanaians recruited to form the ‘Young Pioneers’, a youthful political wing of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), which was led by Dr Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana.
Mr Boateng said Apostle Dr Appiah, who was born at Bamang, near Bonwire in the Ashanti region, was an intellectual and motivator.
He played an influential role in establishing Ghana on the religious map of Italy because he was the first indigenous African to establish a church in Italy in the early 1980s.
